The Western Front Today - Messines Ridge Cemetery

Messines Ridge British cemetery, in the Ypres Salient, incorporates a New Zealand government Memorial to the Missing panel, commemorating servicemen of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force who fell and who have no known grave in the Salient.

The cemetery was established after the war and contains 986 U.K., 332 Australian, 115 New Zealand, 56 South African, 1 Canadian and 954 unknown burials.

A New Zealand Memorial is located at the entrance to the cemetery, and upon it is inscribed a list of 840 men who fell in the Salient and who have no known grave.
