Since ascending the German throne Kaiser Wilhelm II had deliberately adopted a more militaristic pose than his predecessor, determined to achieve a "place in the sun" for Germany along with Europe's other great powers.

The film footage available here (see below) features the Kaiser meeting with his Generals in 1913.
