As outlined within this site's feature article 'How It Began' (click here), the origins of the First World War can be dated back to Otto von Bismarck's policies as German Chancellor in the second half of the 19th century. Click here to view brief film footage of the former German Chancellor probably filmed in the 1890s; Bismarck died in 1898 (Windows Media, 3 seconds, 44KB).
